A mental health counselor in private practice was asked to see Mary Jones. Mary is a 57-year-old married woman who was laid off work after a traumatic back injury three months ago but is still under the care of a physician. Her physician is seeing her regularly for the pain medicine he prescribed post-surgery. Since then, she has not been working, is depressed and worried, and her husband is concerned to the point that he insisted she see a counselor. The intake form reveals no indication of recent loss of significant persons.
