How often is the Study Supplement updated?

The Study Supplement is constantly monitored for updating based on curriculum changes, changes to the NCMHCE, and feedback from students. When new material becomes known, it is added to the Study Supplement. Frequently this is done once or twice a year.

How soon will the Study Supplement arrive after I purchase it?

For those who purchase the NCMHCE using a credit card, we ship the day after the card is successfully processed. CTC also accepts payment by check or money order, though this can delay the shipping process. All shipments are by UPS Ground service. Your Study Supplement will be shipped from the Atlanta, Georgia area. Expedited shipping is available for an additional charge.

How soon will I have access to the online scenarios after I purchase them?

You should expect to receive an email with your login information in about one hour from the time you submit your purchase. Once you have received your login information you can immediately begin accessing the online scenarios.

How long can I access the online scenarios?

Your login information will be good for one year from the date of your purchase.

Am I able to use the scenarios multiple times?

Absolutely! Once you purchase access to the online Scenario Simulator, you are free to take each scenario as many times as you like during your one year timeframe.

Can I purchase just the manual or just the online scenarios?

We do not sell the NCMHCE Study Supplement without the online scenarios. The online scenarios are meant to be used together with the Study Supplement. Dr. Arthur feels both are needed to properly prepare for the licensure exam.

Do I have to be a member of PayPal to purchase from the website?

No. To the left of the PayPal member login screen is a place to enter your payment information if you do not have a PayPal account. (Click "Review Order and Continue" button.)

I cannot see the entire page. What do I do?

You will need to change the resolution of your screen. To do this, follow these instructions:
Left click on "Start" on the bottom left of your screen
Left click on "Control Panel"
Left click on "Display"
Left click on "Settings" (last tab to the right)
This will bring up a screen that should have an adjustable bar directly below the words "Screen resolution". Slide the button to the highest resolution option.
Left click "Apply" and "Ok"
You should now be able to view the entire page.

User Questions

I just ordered; how do I sign in to access the online scenarios?

Go to: counselorexams.com, Click on Account (found in the upper right-hand corner at the bottom of the list) and enter your login information that was emailed to you.

I can't log into my account because I don't have a password.

You will receive an email with your login information in about an hour from the time you submit your purchase. Once you have received your login information you can begin using your online scenarios. NOTE: Make sure to check your junk email folder as the computer generated login information email may get filtered. If you did not receive your login information within two hours you will need to contact our Customer Service during office business hours to manually retrieve your login information. (Normal business hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST)

I've tried the login and password and it is not working.

A. Make sure your caps lock key is not engaged because both the User ID and Password are case sensitive.
B. The Password is all numbers and you must use the hyphen.
C. Make sure you are at the correct website, counselorexams.com. If you fail to put the "s" at the end of exams you are taken to a completely different website.
D. Make sure you are typing in your email address exactly as it appears on your login information email. (Perhaps our system entered your email differently from your actual email address.)

What do I do if I lose my login information?

You can contact Customer Service either by telephone, 888-326-9229, or by email, dstorm@careertrain.com, to request your login information.

May I change my password?

Yes. Once you have successfully entered your account, you may go to Profile and change your password.

I purchased Package B and/or C and I have not been granted access yet. Why?

When you purchase the Full Package or Package A, the computer automatically generates your account. When you purchase Package B or C these must be updated manually. Therefore, if you purchase these after normal business hours or on the weekend you will need to wait until normal business hours before access will be granted. (Normal business hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST)

I cannot move forward, the system appears to be stuck.

You are probably at what is called a Stop Question. A Stop Question requires you to choose the correct answer before it will allow you to go forward. Some questions require two (2) correct answers before it will allow you to move forward.

What is considered a passing score on the scenarios?

The Arthur-Brende Scenario Simulator is set up emulate the NCMHCE scenarios, however we are not directly affiliated with the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. (NBCC) who administers the NCMHCE. Therefore, we do not know the actual pass/fail criteria used for the NCMHCE. The NBCC's information about NCMHCE scoring can be found here: http://www.nbcc.org/ncmhce#ncmhcescore.
The Scenario Simulator emulates the actual NCMHCE scenarios using an Exam Format that measures separately your "information gathering" and "decision making" abilities. Anecdotal feedback from many customers shows that the Arthur-Brende Scenarios are more difficult than the actual scenarios of the NCMHCE, so that if you do well on our scenarios, you should do well on the exam. Our guidance is to not be too concerned with your Arthur-Brende Scenario scores themselves. Instead, we recommend that you use the practice scenarios to become comfortable with the exam format and to understand the types of DSM-IV related questions that are typical of the NCMHCE. If your scores are at or above the "Average Overall" scores of other users, then that is more meaningful than the actual score itself.
We do not know every customer's pass/fail history, but we do know that based on the percentage of customers who request their money back based on our Pass Guarantee, our customer's pass rate is 97%. Many customers call or write to us of their success. We'd love to hear your feedback as well!

I am trying to look back on scenarios that I have completed previously and see what answers I chose. I am only able to access the correct answers, why?

Your answers are not saved from session to session. This means your answers are not saved when you log off - only your previous scores are saved.

I am unclear as to which of my answers were correct or incorrect?

Once you complete a scenario, you can get your scores by clicking on the "get your scores" link at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the answer page. At the top of the answer page, you will get your score as a percentage. You also will see your Information Gathering Score, Decision Making Score, Overall Score, and Average Overall Score. The Average Overall Score is the score of all the other users to date and thus is a good gauge for your success in completing each scenario.
Further down the page, each question is listed with all available options shown. Each option shows a point value in parentheses in front of the question option and it is also shown in green, red, blue, or black. The color coding is as follows:
If you chose the question and it was an appropriate question to ask for that situation, the answer appears in green.
If you chose the question and it was an inappropriate question to ask for that situation, the answer appears in red.
If you chose the question but the question held no point value (neither appropriate nor inappropriate), the answer appears in blue.
If you did not choose the question, the answer appears in black.

What do I do to get my money back for not passing?
